April 12, 2005: Win XP SP2 goes automatic

  View Printable Version
Windows

After releasing Windows XP Service Pack 2 in August last year, Microsoft gave everyone a 120 (later 240) day grace period in which the Automatic Update wouldn't automatically download and install it.

On April 12, 2005, this grace period is over.

So whether you like it or not, all of XP SP2's 270 megabytes will come to your Windows computer after April 12.
