Debian 5 aka "Lenny" has been released

GNU/LinuxOn February 14th, 2009 Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 was released. New goodies includes: Java is finally in the Debian repositories thanks to IcedTea and OpenJDK; Firefox (rebranded as Iceweasel) is now at 3.0 and more. Other goodies: Xen Hypervisor 3.2.1 (dom0 as well as domU support). OSnews detailes the new features in Lenny, Tuxradar have a detailed look at Lenny.

Quick tip: MySQL - check and repair databases

GNU/LinuxTo check your MySQL databases, you do this: mysqlcheck -u username -p --all-databases
To repair tables / databases yo do this: mysqlcheck -u username -r -p --all-databases
Note: the username and password isn't your regular user.
In Ubuntu, the username is probably debian-sys-maint. Check /etc/mysql/debian.cnf and you will find username and password there.
