efibootmgr - create a new boot entry

GNU/Linuxto create a new boot entry with efibootmgr, you need to specify quite a few parameters.

Here goes:

sudo efibootmgr -c -d /dev/sda -p 1 -L "Debian" -l "EFIdebiangrubx64.efi"
this creates a new boot entry ('-c'), specifies that the ESP is on sda1 ('-d /dev/sda -p 1') gives it the name Debian, and specifies the boot loader as "EFIdebiangrubx64.efi".

If you need to delete an entry, for example entry 0003, specify it with '-b 3' and '-B' for delete. Example:

bitraf@desktop-41nl8sd:~$ sudo efibootmgr -b 3 -B
BootCurrent: 0002
Timeout: 5 seconds
BootOrder: 0000,0001,0002
Boot0000* Windows Boot Manager
Boot0001* Hard Drive
Boot0002* UEFI: Built-in EFI Shell
nice to know.
