Will ZFS and non-ECC RAM kill your data?

NewsThe article Will ZFS and non-ECC RAM kill your data? enlightens those who believe any random writings on the internet (Yes, FreeNAS forum; I am looking at you lot), and think that "zfs is special and requires ECC RAM more than any other filesystem".

The answer is of course "yes, ECC RAM is a good idea. No, zfs isn't special, it doesn't benefit more from ECC RAM than any other filesystem".
