I upgraded Android on my SmartQ V5 to "V5 Android V3.0". After the upgrade, the language was Chinese again. To fix, start settings (press the menu (middle) button once, then select the icon to the right), scroll to the bottom of the list, then select the second-lowest (second last) item, on the next menu, select the first (upper) item, then select the language you want. Phew. Well, the "about phone" still says that it is Android 1.6 with kernel 2.6.29 on it after the upgrade.
