Quick tip: find out which (Linux) distribution you are running

GNU/LinuxFor when 'uname -a' doesn't provide enough information about the Linux distribution you are currently logged in to: try 'lsb_release -a'. On my Ubuntu 7.10 machine it gives the following output:

tingo@kg-htpc:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 7.10
Release: 7.10
Codename: gutsy
Nice!
